Values, Messages, and Beliefs

Our Culture at New Life:  We have a grace-filled approach to all people, a contemporary approach toward worship, a practical approach towards Bible teaching, a passionate approach toward discipleship, compassionate approach towards the hurting, broken and lost, and a purposeful approach toward serving.

Our Values

We value Christian community.   We seek to a body that journeys together to follow the command of Jesus to love God with all our hearts and love our neighbor as ourself, to make disciples and be salt and light in the world.

Our Messages

Our sermons, or messages are intended to present balanced Bible based teaching, that you can apply to your daily life.

Our Beliefs

Our essential beliefs and teaching about God are listed below on this page.

"In the essential beliefs, we have unity. In the non-essential beliefs, we have liberty.  In all our beliefs, we show charity. (love)” ~ St. Augustine.

What We Believe and Teach About

God:

God is the creator and the ruler of the universe.
He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit (called the Trinity).
These three are co-equal and are one God.

Jesus:

Jesus is the Son of God. He was born of a virgin and lived a perfect, sinless human life.
He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross.
He arose from the dead after three days, ascended into heaven, and will return again someday to reign as King of Kings.

The Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for salvation through Jesus.
He lives in every Christian from the moment of Salvation and provides the believer with power for
living, understanding spiritual truths, wisdom, and guidance for doing what is right.

Bible:

The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of
the Holy Spirit, called inspiration.
It is the supreme source of truth for all Christian beliefs and living.
It is to be correctly divided, in its orginal context, to understand its message to us.

People:

People are made in the spiritual image of God.
People are the supreme objects of God’s creation.
Although people have tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”.
This separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

Salvation:

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we choose to accept or reject it.
We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works.
Only by trusting Jesus Christ as God’s offer for forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.
Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Eternity:

The soul of every human being was created to live forever.
We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through salvation and forgiveness.
Hell is eternal separation from God. Heaven is eternal union with God.
Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

Communion, Baptism, and Membership

If you have further questions, please contact us and we would be glad to answer them.

Communion

Communion is offered the first Sunday of the month, and also a few other times during the year.
You do not need to be a member of New Life to participate,
but we do ask that you wait until you are a fully committed believer in Jesus as your savior before you participate.

"What about kids?"

We leave it to the parents discretion as to whether or not their children are old enough to understand, and spiritually ready to participate.
We find this age to be around age 8-10 for most children.

Water Baptism

Water baptism is during the year and is announced about 4 weeks prior to the next offering.
The first step is attending a class about water baptism and preparing for your baptism day.
This is a big day, we call it a spiritual monument, that you will remember for your life!

If you were baptized as a child and did not understand what you were doing,
we welcome you to be baptized again.

If you are a parent with a child who wants to be baptized, we leave it up to you as to whether they
understand what it means to follow Jesus and if they are able to count the cost of discipleship, as Jesus said.
Our general guideline is waiting until your child is about age 10-12.

Want to be added to the next baptism class? Let us know here

Church Membership

After you attend New Life for awhile, you may be ready to take the next step, which is membership.
Membership is way to show the church that you are not just "checking us out", but are you ready join arms with others in our mission by serving in an area of your choice.
It is a commitment to a church body for as long as God has you there.

Church membership is offered twice a year, and is announced in our weekly bulletin.
